Johnson Law Group announces five new partners

Johnson Law Group (JLG), one of the UK’s fastest-growing consumer litigation law firms, has announced the appointment of five partners at its London office, to further strengthen its group litigation offering and support the firm’s continued national expansion.

Pete Gallagher is appointed as London Managing Partner. At his previous firm, he led the team acting as Lead Solicitors across 13 “Dieselgate” Class Actions which together form the largest group litigation ever to proceed through the English Courts. Before beginning his class action practice, Pete acted in a variety of complex cross-border commercial litigation first at Shearman & Sterling and then White & Case LLP.

He is joined by Sarah Bingham, Matthew Hunt, Michael Burke and Priyanka Gladson who all bring extensive experience as case leads in complex, high-value group actions, significantly enhancing Johnson Law Group’s depth of expertise across large-scale consumer claims.

The appointments bolster the London office’s standing which enjoyed the appointment of other senior partner, Jon Beresford, from Harcus Parker earlier on in 2025.

The appointments will play a pivotal role in expanding the firm’s group action portfolio, accelerating the development of its London presence, and reinforcing its position as a leading player in the UK consumer litigation sector.

The team’s group litigation experience includes acting as joint lead on the ongoing Pan-NOx Diesel Emissions litigation including the recent liability trial, and the settled Volkswagen (1), British Airways and UEFA Group Action brought by Liverpool FC fans.

The hires come during a period of rapid growth for Johnson Law Group, which has experienced significant expansion over the past 12 months, driven by increasing demand for consumer redress and the firm’s strategic investment in talent, infrastructure and litigation capability.

The team will continue to have an integral role in the strategic and tactical management of the Pan NOx litigation which has just concluded the 10 week liability trial in December 2025 (judgement expected before the end of July 2026) as the case moves into the third and final trial phase – the quantum trial – which is due to run for 10 weeks from October 2026.

Jamie Patton, Managing Director of Johnson Law Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Pete, Sarah, Matthew, Michael and Priyanka to Johnson Law Group. Their collective experience at the highest level of group litigation will be instrumental as we continue to scale our consumer and group litigation practice and invest in complex, high-impact claims. These appointments reflect both the momentum we have built over the last year and our ambition to be at the forefront of consumer litigation in the UK.”

Pete Gallagher said: “I am incredibly excited to start this new chapter with Johnson Law Group. I am fortunate to be working with such talented colleagues, both those with whom I’ve worked for the last several years, and those who have already done so much to build the firm’s practice in the UK. Together, we look forward to building Johnson Law Group as a leading class action practice and delivering a peerless service for the firm’s clients.

Johnson Law Group’s continued growth underscores its commitment to delivering large-scale, claimant-focused litigation while strengthening its position as a serious and enduring presence in the consumer law market.
